The Alsatian vineyard extends over 2 regions: the « Bas-Rhin » and the « Haut-Rhin » where 3 controlled appellations are produced: Alsace, Grand Cru, and Cremant d’Alsace (sparkling wine).

They include 7 different grape varieties, which give to the wines 7 different names: Sylvaner, Pinot blanc, Riesling, Muscat d’Alsace, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Pinot noir. All the bottles of Alsatian wines have the same shape; this shape is a huge characteristic of the Alsatian culture.
